Organized by Aalto University's Empirica Research Group, "Materiality, Maker Practices and Design Studio Pedagogy in the Digital Age" is a seminar on creativity-oriented pedagogy in art and design universities, featuring keynote speeches by two leading experts in the fields of creativity research and artistic practice:

• Dr. Keith Sawyer, Morgan Distinguished Professor in Educational Innovations, University of North Carolina, USA.

• Dr. Nithikul Nimkulrat, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Design OCAD University, Canada.

The seminar is part of the MakerStudioPeda Summer School, 23–29 May 2023.

My keynote is entitled "What Makers Know". I shared my views and experiences of craft making and opened up issues of the knowledge and skills cultivated through craft practices and their implications for studio education.
